In 1997 in Los Angeles, California, 39 members of a religious group called Heaven's Gate committed a mass suicide. Through a series of well choreographed events, the cult planned every element of their publicity leading up to and following their deaths. This series of drawings isolates elements of the news documentation remaining from the suicides of Heaven's Gate members.
